Hello. I'm Calvin.
I am an experienced aerospace engineer, game designer, and aspiring author.
As a child, I was an avid reader, consuming the works of Jules Verne and J.R.R. Tolkien with equal voracity, before reading everything I could get my hands on. It seemed only natural to turn my reader's inquisitiveness into a writer's industriousness, and I've finished several full-length novels.
I began playing role-playing games when I was nine, and game mastering when I was ten. I played a variety of games, and while all were great fun in their way, I wanted a game catered to my desires. Not finding one on bookshelves, I designed my own, resulting in Age of Aether, the historical steampunk fantasy RPG!
Both my novel-writing and my game design are shaped by the knowledge gained in my career as an aerospace engineer. The science in my novels reflects my real-world knowledge of technology and space exploration, and my steampunk RPG considers how magic would interact with advancing technology.
When not working as an engineer, assembling Age of Aether, or writing a novel, I still find time to read. I split my literary interests between speculative fiction of all types and historical topics. I am an avid historian, and love researching life in prior eras. Often, I find knowledge of a historical period can help me build a world, even in a land of magic or on a faraway planet.
